“Musical Calligraphies” – Reviving Safavid melodies
This concert initiates a journey into some of the most beautiful rediscovered treasures of Persian classical music from Safavid period. Based on their latest musical researches, Sepideh Raissadat, Kiya Tabassian and fellow musicians will revisit some important traditions of the period. This repertoire sheds light on Persian Magham music (which preceded Dastgâh system) and rebuilds the broken bridges with the contemporary Radif. Along these masterpieces, new compositions in different Maghams will be performed. To represent the great heritage of Iranian culture and its aliveness, poems by masters of classical and contemporary Persian poetry will be sung into melodies of the past and present. A sacred moment to be celebrated with four virtuosi who promise a unique musical journey!
